It is true that drinking beer, or any alcoholic drink in
excess, can lead to serious health problems. However, some studies show that
beer, if consumed responsibly, can be as heart-healthy as wine. Here are some
of its benefits for our body.
Heart Health
A European study found that a pint of beer a day reduces the
risk of heart disease by 31%, by increasing high-density lipoprotein (known as
"good cholesterol" ).
Diabetes
People with diabetes who drink beer moderately are less
likely to have coronary heart disease and also less likely to develop type 2
diabetes.
Brain Health
Adults over 65 who drink 1-6 pints of beer a week, show
lower risk of dementia than those adults of the same age who drink excessively
or not drink at all.
Overall Health
People drinking beer in moderation tend to report fewer
illnesses throughout their life, compared to people who drink excessively or doesn’t
drink at all.
Bones
In the health section of Forbes magazine has been published
that beer can help fight bone loss in young men and women, reconstructing and
strengthening it.
In other words…Cheers!
